MPHA’s Mobility Voucher Program encourages low-income families to move to non-concentrated areas within the city limits of Minneapolis. This initiative responds to the shared goal of our federal, state, and city governments to deconcentrate families who live in poverty. The program is structured to increase housing choices for families who are on MPHA’s Section 8 HCV waiting list who currently live in concentrated areas, and want to move to non-concentrated areas.
Families on MPHA’s Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list who currently live in concentrated areas within the city limits of Minneapolis, are currently working, actively participating in a job training program or enrolled in school and have been for the past 6 months, and have minor children in the household are eligible for the Mobility Voucher Program.
Working closely with the Community Services Coordinator-Mobility, families set goals, attend regular meetings, participate in workshops, and receive on-going case management throughout the entire time they are on program in order to achieve a greater level of self-sufficiency for their entire family.
